What is VoLTE?

VoLTE is short for Voice over Long-Term Evolution (Voice over LTE). VoLTE allows for traditional voice communication to be delivered over the 4G/LTE mobile network instead of traditional 2G and 3G networks. The feature aims to improve the quality of voice calls by offering HD voice and simultaneous voice and data transfer during a call. It also ensures faster call set-up times and improved network availability.

VoLTE meets your everyday needs by making multitasking easier than ever. By activating it, you can browse the web and download media while on the call.

Are there any subscription fees for VoLTE?

No. Voice over LTE is charged at the same rate as other voice calls and does not consume your mobile data. Voice calls and the internet are priced according to your current plan. For example, if you have activated a voice bundle or a minute balance, the call will deduct minutes/seconds from the bundle according to the price plan type.

Does VoLTE work on international roaming?

No, there are no VoLTE roaming agreements with international telecom operators. traditional 2G/3G network will be used while roaming.

How can I activate/deactivate Voice over LTE?

It can be activated/ deactivated via the “Settings” menu on your device.

  2. SIM cards & Mobile networks
  3. Click on Orange SIM cars settings.
  4. Put VoLTE slider on

If a VoLTE subscriber calls another subscriber and finds that his device does not support VoLTE or vice versa, will that affect the connection?

There is no effect on the connection.

What happens if a subscriber replaces a VoLTE-enabled device with a non-VoLTE-enabled device?

In this case, he will not be able to benefit from the VoLTE service and his communication will be done in the way that is currently on the 3G/2G network.

Is VoLTE affected if the subscriber replaces the SIM card?

The service is not affected if the SIM card is changed.

Does VoLTE work on eSIM cards?

Yes, it works on eSIM cards.

In the IEW Data Line, is there any impact on the VoLTE service?

VoLTE is for voice calls only, and is not connected to the Internet.

What happens when moving from an area covered by 4G / LTE to an area covered only by a 3G network? And if the subscriber is in an active connection, will there be any interruption?

It is automatically switched from 4G network to 3G without interruption in the call.

Does VoLTE leave any impact on the battery life of the devices?

There may be a slight improvement in battery life.

Is VoLTE available for all offers or specific offers?

VoLTE is available for all prepaid mobile and postpaid lines and will be available soon for corporate offers

  • VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is a service available to certain smartphone devices on Orange Jordan network that allows for traditional voice calls to be terminated over the 4G/LTE network as opposed to the traditional older 2G and 3G networks. The service aims to improve voice call quality by offering HD voice, simultaneous voice and data transfer during a call, faster call set-up times, as well as better network availability
  • In order to use VoLTE a customer needs to have a compatible device that supports VoLTE on Orange Jordan network, the latest SW release, as well as the VoLTE service provisioned on their SIM card. the service is free of charge. The VoLTE function, depending on device type, may also need to be switched on in the device's settings, please consult your device manufacturer's user guide to find out where to enable VoLTE.
  • VoLTE will only function when in 4G/LTE coverage, however it is important to note that the device will automatically switch back to the older 2G and 3G technologies when necessary to enable a seamless experience. A customer on VoLTE can call a customer on a non-VoLTE device, or who is not in 4G/LTE coverage, and vice versa however, the full functionality of VoLTE may be limited. 
  • VoLTE calls will be billed as per the existing rules applicable to your price plan i.e. if there is a voice bundle available or a minute balance, the call will deduct minutes/seconds from the bundle depending on the price plan type. Where there are no voice or minute bundles available, the call will be charged at the standard per minute or per second rate applicable to the price plan making the call.
    NB: VoLTE calling will
    NOT use available Data bundles.
  • In order for a customer to determine if their VoLTE calling is active and working, they need to look for the following indicators bearing in mind these can be different from device to device.
    • A logo on the screen that says 'VoLTE'.
    • When making or receiving a call the 4G logo remains on the screen and does not change to 3G.
    NB: You may need to pull down from the top of the screen of your device in order to see all logos and/or text.
